If you were selecting books for a book club, what what would you choose for the next 8-10 months?

I once belonged to a book club called Xingu, a reference to a short story by Eurdora Welty

For what do we live, but to make sport for our neighbors and laugh at them in our turn?

That's a tough wide open question. Book clubs are a challenge, since you want to read things you'll like but you also want books that will stimulate discussions. The Corrections by Jonathon Franzen and A Heartbreaking Work of Staggering Genius by Dave Eggers are two books that I can think of which I didn't wholeheartedly enjoy but which might provide fodder for a spirited discussion. When my local book club was ongoing, the person hosting the next meeting picked the next book. The rules were that it had to be available in paperback and it had to be a book no one had yet read. Another helpful inquiry might be what books have your bookclubs read, would you recommend them for other bookclubs, why or why not.
